Our October issue of American Miniaturist (AM102) mentioned new tools from Dremel, both of which are now out and able to be bought! These are great tools if you're a do-it-yourselfer or if you're working with the construction of dollhouses, miniature furniture, etc.
Dremel 3000: Dremel's most popular rotary tool has been upgraded! The company used user feedback to create a more ergonomic and easier-to-use design. It's also conveniently compatible with all Dremel accessories and attachments, except the PL400 Planer Attachment and MS400 MultiSaw Attachment. The motor brushes are also replaceable, extending the life. Tweaks to the design have made the tool cooler, quieter, and smoother, and you can do numerous tasks such as cutting, grinding, sanding, carving and polishing. It also includes Dremel's first EZ-Twist nose-cap design features an integrated wrench that allows the nose cap to be used as a wrench to tighten accessories and eliminates the need for a separate wrench.

Dremel Saw-Max: This is a new tool from the company, and it "is a compact, handheld saw that allows users to easily make precise, clean, and straight cuts in a variety of materials using compact cutting wheels." You can cut wood, plastic, laminates and drywall as well as sheet metal and wall and floor tiles. It's a third of the size and weight of a circular power saw and the versatile system of wheels can make straight, plunge, or flush cuts up to 3/4-inch deep. It's perfect for detailed projects or those in tight spaces, and there are tons of accessories you can use so that it's perfect for any job.

Both tools make DIY tasks less intimidating due to their small size and comfortable design. They are available at most hardware and home-improvement sites across the country. For more information, images and step-by-step project ideas, please visit the Dremel newsroom.
We have more upcoming reviews of Dremel tools on our Model Railroad site, but in the meantime, here are two films currently up (you'd need to subscribe to see the full video, but you can at least see the first two minutes):
