Poor Fred. Poor, poor Fred. Readers of Cat World magazine may remember Fred telling you all about an incident in his blog some time ago. It was about the time when I lived in a flat that had individual, small, brick bin cupboards to all the flats. Whenever I opened the door to my bin cupboard, nosey ol' Fred would always get in and explore behind the bins. One day I hadn't noticed him slinking in behind them and accidentally shut him in for a couple of hours. Now I live in a house with an adjoined garage. We keep everything in the garage apart from the car and yes, Fred loves to get in there and have a nosey. Well on Saturday night I took the WD40 from the garage and oiled a squeaky door eslewhere. I returned the oil to the garage and locked up. Fred had shadowed me but while I was oiling the door to the garden I thought he had gone off for a walkabout. We watched a film, made a drink, got ready for bed - no Fred. I went to bed and fell asleep for an hour - still no Fred. It was only because the temperature had dropped so low and Fred had been out so long that I got worried and decided to go searching for him. Yes, he had been shut in the garage for hours, poor chap. You can imagine the love and cuddles he got! It just goes to prove that in winter, as well as summer, we really have to be mindful of cats getting shut away in places. I always like to know where Fred is, so I was aware he was missing. Others might not be so lucky. Anyway, we're friends again now. A bit of tuna and the best spot on the bed seemed to put that right.
