Have you seen our exciting Facebook competition? Share our mystery box picture from our Facebook page before 4pm Monday and be in with the chance of winning it’s delightful beady contents! Hurrah!
It’s been a busy week, full of lots of photographs - I have been putting the finishing touches to all the projects for Issue 40. They are real corkers I can tell you! I can’t believe how much rain we’ve had this week – here in rural West Sussex all of us in Bead HQ had flooding to contend with on Monday and Bead designer Lesley Messam had to spend hours bailing water out of her back garden! What a way to start the week! However in protest of all the bad weather I created a mock beach in the Bead photography studio – it shows off Jennifer Air’s delightful project spectacularly, don’t you think? It also cheered me up considerably! Here's a little behind the scenes tidbit - this glass starfish usually lives on my bathroom windowsill, I bought it on holiday in Florida last year and I'll let you into a secret - I loved it instanty because it reminded me of beads, Rebecca Weddell's Summer Star Bands from issue 32 of Bead! Oh dear, talk about addicted to beads!
I also wanted to let you know about some exciting fundraising events taking place soon. You may remember in a previous blog post that we told you about Katie’s Appeal, which is being run by Spellbound Beads. Katie’s birthday week is coming up. To celebrate Spellbound are running extra fundraising activities, to help them raise even more money to go towards their £10,000 target for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.
Here’s what’s happening:
Saturday June 23rd - The launch of two beautiful new kits - a ring and a pair of earrings - based on Katie's design, join the team at the shop and see how easy they are to make and how pretty to wear!
Sunday June 24th - Meet a couple of the Spellbound team at the Newbury Bead Show and join in a Make and Take on the stand with Rowena, who will be making all three Katie Kits. For more info on the show and location see www.westofenglandevents.co.uk
Monday June 25th to Friday June 29th - Come and join us at the shop as we have a 'Cake and Donate' week. With some excellent bakers on the staff there will be a variety of baked goods on sale for donations.
Wednesday June 27th - Would you like to join Spellbound for a making afternoon? Spellbound have a big box... or three or four... of materials, so bring your imagination and see what you can make out of this eclectic collection of goodies. All the items made will be sold at one of Spellbound's craft sales. If you'd like to come along drop the shop a line at katiesappeal@spellboundbead.co.uk or call 01543 417650 so they can make sure there are enough chairs for everyone.
I’m working on an idea for advanced beadwork project for the mag at the moment – and hope to get more of it done this weekend. Unfortunately so far it’s been a case of bead 1 row, un-pick 2… still some perfecting to go! Have a great weekend!
Happy Beading!
Chloe
