Sad News

It is with deep regret that we inform readers that Joyce Dean, editor of Dollshouse World Magazine passed away on Sunday June 20, 2010.

Joyce was admitted to hospital a week previously after suffering a stroke. However, she seemed to be making some recovery and we here at Ashdown were anxiously waiting for her to be back on her feet.

Joyce has been with Ashdown for 26 years after starting with the company as a PA.  During her long, distinguished career in publishing she was involved in all forms of media including newspapers, magazines, advertising and, lately, was a popular presenter on TV.

However it was her passion and knowledge of the world of miniatures that was her first love. Always kind, helpful and enthusiastic, Joyce was the person everyone would go to if they needed help or advice.

David King, MD of Ashdown Broadcasting said:  "Joyce was just unique.  A one-off. Her energy and enthusiasm was relentless and she would pack more into just one day than most people get round to in a week.

We will miss her greatly. As well as our thousands of readers and viewers."

Ashdown launches LOCALGOVUK.TV

Ashdown Broadcasting officially launches localgovuk.tv as a streaming IPTV platform for councils and government departments across the UK.

The new service provides cost effective information channels which feature multi bit-rate MP4 streaming and HD capability.

Project leader Elizabeth Cornish of Ashdown commented that the new platform and service will be a "god- send" to organisations who are currently seeing their budgets slashed by central government.

"Marketing has always been a costly area for councils and by switching to IPTV they will be able to make massive savings as well as having far more control over content and keeping their householders fully informed and connected," said Elizabeth.
